John Holland Group and Tenix Alliance were partners in a joint venture to design, construction and operate the Mackay Water Recycling Project (MWRP) for Mackay City Council in Central Queensland.
The MWRP recycles 90% of Mackay’s wastewater to protect the Great Barrier Reef from 250 tonnes of nutrients per year. The Project also protects and rehabilitates over committed ground water resources which are at risk of seawater intrusion.
Scope of works included:
The design and construction of a wastewater transfer system
The design, construction and operation of two wastewater treatment plants
The design and construction of a earth storage dam
This was a significant water recycling development for the northern suburbs of Mackay and the region.
