The Scenic Highway intersection upgrade project is located at the Seabreeze service station intersection. The Scenic Highway at this location caters for 11,000 vehicles per day. The existing BAR turn is nominated to be replaced by a new Short Channelised Righthand (CHRs) turn into the Seabreeze service station.
There is a major pedestrian path running adjacent to the Scenic Highway, and the new intersection design includes provision for a pedestrian crossing.
Hartecs prepared a new, safer intersection design, whilst working within the tight existing road verge geometry. The design was limited by properties and existing kerb and stormwater infrastructure to the west, and a footpath running parrallel to the road to the east.
